Does anyone know of a tool that will allow you to QUICKLY identify an unspecified projection – the formats do not require/permit one? I can chase one done but it is time consuming.

    Hey Dan,

Are you only interested in datums and projections in the State of Florida?

    Thanks,
    Cory

    Cory –

Actually, although I work out of Florida, none of the areas I am covering are in Florida – Mostly west coast. I am looking for a generic programmatic solution – maybe reproject to Lat/Long & show me the results while identifying the assumed source projection. I use FME as my primary & ArcGIS as a resource/tool

    Hi Dan,
In FME bring in your source and let FME “read from source” the projection, connect it to a CoordinateSystemExtractor transformer and output to a logger. The transformer will put the coordinate system in an attribute. If there is no coordinate system, the attribute will be empty.
    Thanks,
